BHUTAN REPORTEDLY OFFLOADED NEARLY $1 BILLION IN BITCOIN — BUT OFFICIALS DENY IT
According to Arkham Intelligence, Bhutan (via its sovereign fund Druk Holding and Investments) is believed to have significantly reduced its Bitcoin holdings from ~13,000 $BTC in Oct 2024 to around ~3,100 $BTC by mid-May 2026.
Key movements:
Around $207M worth of $BTC reportedly sent to exchanges and trading firms since the start of the year
Overall holdings seen declining sharply across tracked wallets
However:
Bhutan’s representatives deny any confirmed Bitcoin selling activity and say they cannot verify the reported figures.
Additional context:
Some of the $BTC flows reportedly went through platforms like Galaxy Digital and OKX, which could indicate selling, OTC deals, custody transfers, or other financial operations.
The situation remains controversial as on-chain data suggests major supply changes, but there is still no official confirmation from the government.
